As UCP Wheels for Humanity’s Executive Director, David has spent more than two decades in leadership and advocacy roles in the social service sector. He began his commitment to public service in 1988 as a volunteer Big Brother and as a pro bono lawyer representing homeless clients and disadvantaged children and families. David served as Associate Director of Programs at the Weingart Homeless Service Center. David was subsequently recruited to serve as the Founding Director of the HIV & AIDS Legal Services Alliance. In 2000, David was appointed President and CEO of LA Family Housing. In 2006, former HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros recruited David to launch American Sunrise Communities. Since joining the ALA team in 2009, he tripled the size of ALA's portfolio and initiated Vision 2015, ALA’s five-year strategic plan. David is co-founder and co-chair of the annual Mayoral Housing and Transportation Summit which has been held at UCLA’s Anderson School of Business since 2000. David worked as a lawyer specializing in litigation and employment law. He also teaches community development to graduate students at the University of Southern California Price School of Public Policy. David received degrees from Denver University, Duke University and Loyola Law School of Los Angeles.
